From Our Family to Yours: Stepping Into a New Growing Year

As we step into a new year, we wanted to take a quiet moment to say thank you!

This past year at Sunnyhill Homestead was filled with growth in so many ways; not just in the garden, but in the connections and friendships that came with it.

From seed swaps, workshops and consultations, to conversations in driveways and messages shared online - we’re so grateful for the community that continues to grow around our little suburban homestead!

Looking ahead, we’re feeling really excited about what the coming seasons will bring!

We’re planning more workshops, more consultations, and a few gatherings just for fun - like the tomato taste test I hinted at this year to help bring attention to the flavours, varieties, and beauty of what grows well here.

personal goal I’m working on this year is creating a realistic way to meal plan for an entire year!

I’m pretty organized when it comes to most things at home, but meal planning? That’s a whole other story. With incredibly busy evenings and food allergies to consider, sitting down to plan meals has always felt a little… overwhelming.

This year, I’m hoping that by approaching it with the same simple, minimalist mindset I use for everything else in our home, meal planning can finally become easy and maybe even something I only need to tackle once a year!

I am making sure it will work with all your favourite recipes, whether you garden or not, all while keeping any garden and preserved foods in mind for those of us who do focus on growing our own food.

If it turns out to be a game-changer for our family, I’ll absolutely be sharing it with you!

A little sneak peak at just the start of my brainstorming.

In the garden, we’ll keep doing what we love: growing food, increasing our yields, trialing new varieties, and continuing to collect seeds for our ever-popular free seed library!

Gardening content will be starting up again in mid-January on our social media platforms, so be sure to watch for that and consider growing right along side us!

From our family to yours, thank you for following along, cheering us on, and supporting this journey in so many ways!

If you ever feel like sharing Sunnyhill Homestead with a friend, neighbour, garden pro, or someone simply curious (or slightly intimidated) by growing food, please know it helps more than you may realize.

We’re so grateful to grow this community together and can’t wait to see what this new year brings!

Happy New Year!

Until Next Time,

Sarah & The Sunnyhill Homestead Family
